Fun in the Sun!

We enjoyed our neighborhood pool opening party on Saturday! What a fun treat to have this pool down the street! We all enjoyed the pool, great food, and sunshine. We had fun in the sun and then headed home for naps! Did I mention that I LOVE nap time! I think I will have a big pity party when nap time ends in this house, let's hope not for a while!

Maybe we need some sunglasses!

Our own little band...

I love that the boys love praise and worship music as much as their momma! Pearson and Aaron are very creative and at times loud. Here they are singing two of their favorite songs.

A Family that Prays Together...

...Stays Together!

We went to a church sunset picnic on Friday night for fun, food, and fellowship. I loved watching these boys pray together! And what was the Mommy doing, you might ask. Snapping pics and praying in spirit!

Love how he laid his head on Daddy's shoulder to pray!

Praying with glove on! Had to take a break from playing to pray!

Sweet Aaron was serious about praying this night!

The beautiful sunset God blessed us with!

I hope and pray that Pearson and Aaron always have hearts to talk to God. I know God hears the prayers of his children.

"The Gammy Blanket"

This afternoon Pearson protested in the loudest, whiniest voice, "I'm not tired!" I am sure my friends with preschoolers can hear that voice in your head (at least I hope my child is not the only one who is known to use this high pitched whiny voice)! Only to be wrapped up and sound asleep only 5 minutes later looking like this:

Completely, peacefully asleep! What was the difference you ask? The Gammy Blanket.

This is a treasured object in our home. This blanket was made for us out of Brian's mom, also known as Gammy, shirts. This blanket has a special place in all of hearts. I feel as though once you are under this blanket you can feel her love and embrace almost as if she herself is wrapping you in her love and you can rest. It is truly Brian's favorite blanket and when he is at work during the day Pearson has been know to borrow it. Literally today when Pearson protested resting I offered the Gammy blanket to him and within minutes he was asleep.

I am so grateful for this and other precious objects to remember this amazing woman by.  Here is a picture of the blanket that we treasure. I remember when she wore each shirt in our blanket. Each of Brian's brothers were given a blanket as a precious gift with shirts that were special between them. Two of the shirts in our blanket were shirts that we had given to Carol Ann.

I even very fondly remember when she bought and wore this shirt that she got in Colorado.

Oh how I wished my boys could have known her! I do pray that her legacy and memory live on always in our hearts and home. We talk about her daily and how much she loved them and the Lord! And while I know she is dancing with Jesus, I do miss her dearly. I am so thankful for the gift she gave me in my precious husband. She will forever be in our hearts!

Update on Papa!

Thank you again for your prayers for my dad, aka, Papa. He is doing really well. He even made the hour drive to come see us! The boys were thrilled to have Nana and Papa here with us for an afternoon visit!

Papa and his three grandsons! All smiles!
Pearson and Papa playing a little sword fighting on the Wii together!

Aaron loved having Papa read the Bible to him!

We had a great time visiting, playing, and enjoying lunch together.
Thanks Nana and Papa for coming to see us!

An Attitude of Gratitude

So here is another shout out for another new blog I am enjoying following. The Thank You Note Project  is an awesome blog about a humble gal named Allison who is writing one handwritten thank you note per day in an effort to share gratitude.

She writes on her blog "The Thank You Note Project is my experiment in living this year more meaningfully, more impactfully, and more appreciatively.  I have set a goal for myself to send one thank you note every day to a person who has touched me in some way.  I truly believe in the power of hand written correspondence and hope to demonstrate its importance to others in though this challenge.  I was raised writing thank you notes and I want to pass on this tradition of thoughtfulness to my children, teaching though my example.  I’m going to document my journey on this blog, and I have no doubt it will challenge and change me in many ways."

I have been inspired to write more thank you notes myself. I now carry blank notes with me in my purse and try to write impromptu notes whenever and wherever I feel inspired.  I love reading about who and how she writes her notes to. So far I have written notes to our children's minister, my children's Sunday school teachers, MOPS child care workers, recreation center child care workers, and a note for a free breakfast at Chick Fil A.

I want to instill in Pearson and Aaron an attitude of gratitude and I hope writing more thank you notes will be one way that I can model that lesson for them.

Dentist Visit

The boys both had a dentist visit a few weeks ago. They both did great! I was one happy mama because they did not have any cavities! They both had a cleaning and Pearson even had x rays taken. It was so cool to see his permanent teeth on the picture! Wild to see!

This was Aaron's first official visit. He has had a "happy visit" a few months ago, but not much was done. This time he did really well.

"Ok, I'll lay here and let her look at my teeth"

Pearson's turn to get his teeth cleaned!

So big and brave!
Brushing the dinosaurs teeth.

Two sweet boys at home having a picnic on a blanket! Love those smiles!

Lots of Laughter!

In case you need a good laugh, join these 5! In an effort to get one good "Nana and her Grandbabes" picture we got a lot of laughing! What you can't see behind the camera is the silliest looking Uncle David jumping behind the camera making the goofiest noises. This is what we do to get all 4 children smiling at the same time! We tell Nana to just keep smiling! They love it and crackup!
Look at those two boys cracking up!

Aaron thinking "Wasn't that funny, Bubba?"

Probably the best of them all!

That silly Daddy/Uncle is so funny!

Happy Mother's Day!

My heart is so overwhelmed on Mother's Day since entering motherhood. I am humbled, honored and so blessed to be Pearson and Aaron's Mommy! A title I will never tire of hearing! I am so thankful that God has allowed me to be a mommy!

My two blessings and one proud momma!
I hope your Mother's Day was as wonderful as mine!

Easter Weekend!

We had a fabulous Easter weekend! I know I am a little late in my updates, but better late  than never, right?!?!

Saturday morning we headed to a family Easter brunch where we enjoying family, food, dying eggs for the first time and a HUGE Easter egg hunt.

Our Precious God given family

During Dying Easter Eggs my sis and I didn't want to get any food coloring on us! Funny part was Nana and GG did the coloring. :)

Aaron loved dying eggs!

Notice who is doing all the work!

Pearson did not want to dye eggs at all, he found more fun toys!

On your mark, get set, go!!

My wonderful, silly husband!
On Sunday morning I sang with our new Praise Choir at church and Brian did an awesome job of getting our sweet boys dressed for church. Thank you, honey, for the sacrifices you make so I can sing!
Our Family on Easter Sunday
We came home and played with the new gifts the boys received.

I really enjoyed talking more about Jesus and the cross this year with the boys and look forward to many more conversations. Pearson loves his Bible, the truth, and songs! He is soaking it all in! He came home from church the week before Easter and said "Jesus died on the cross for our sins." I asked him, "What are sins?" To which he responds, "I dont' know." We'll get there, another day. He can sing all of the songs that the choir sang word for word as he practiced with me. One song is called "Come to the Cross" and I love to hear him proudly sing  "Everyone can come to the cross, It doesn't matter what you've done, Everyone can come to the cross!!!!" Sing it son, Sing it!

We hope you all had an awesome, Christ filled Easter!

Thank you for your Prayers for Papa!

Update on my Dad: He is doing great! He is now recuperating at home and doing really well! He made great progress while in the hospital and was able to go home on Wednesday evening! He is walking daily and building his strength up each day! I am looking forward to seeing him this weekend to see his progress.
